About Us – TheBestGoBag
Take a minute to write an introduction that is short, sweet, and to the point.
Wesley Long
With 20 years on the front lines of EMS, dispatch, and emergency management—both in the U.S. and internationally—Wesley Long has seen what preparedness actually demands. Spoiler: it’s not a pre-made kit pulled off a shelf. It’s adaptable knowledge, built over time, and grounded in lived experience.
Armed with a Bachelor's in Business Management and a strategist's mind, Wesley co-authored the Minimum Survival Standard (MSS) and architected The Best GoBag system—not as a product, but as a challenge to the survival industry's status quo. He’s led GoBag101 workshops for groups ranging from two to fifty, transforming participants from passive consumers into active resilience-builders. His mission is clear: to shift emergency readiness from a checklist to a lifestyle.
Anthony Escoto
Anthony Escoto is the Training & Exercise Program Manager for NYC Emergency Management’s CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) program—one of the largest and most sophisticated urban volunteer corps in the country. A veteran of the Army National Guard and an emergency management professional, Anthony brings operational rigor, systems thinking, and inclusive strategy to every layer of GoBag101.
Where Wesley challenges the individual to rethink personal readiness, Anthony brings the institutional lens: volunteer coordination, community-scale drills, disaster medical response, and equity-first resilience planning. His leadership ensures GoBag101 is not just personal—it’s replicable, trainable, and scalable.
Why This Partnership Works
• Wesley disrupts the outdated survival kit model with person-first strategy and on-the-ground training.
• Anthony ensures every component—from classroom to community—is rooted in proven public safety principles.
• Together, they’ve created one of the most holistic, customizable, and empowering preparedness frameworks available: a system that doesn’t just teach you what to pack—it teaches you how to think.
The Model in Action
GoBag101 bridges personal ownership with community coordination. From NYC CERT operations to suburban workshops to international deployments, the message is the same: preparedness isn’t a product—it’s a process. And The Best GoBag is the one you build yourself.
